ROYAL MAJESTY PAGEANT RULES & GUIDELINES
SCORING CRITERIA
The pageant competition is scored Beauty and Casual Wear and up close appraisal/interview; with a focus on Facial Beauty, Personality and Overall Appeal. Optionals may be entered in Holiday Wear, Outfit of Choice and Photogenic. Optional entries are scored and awarded individually and are not double crowned. Optional entries are also used as replacement scores for casual with the highest score tabulated with beauty and the lowest score dropped. There will be an up close appraisal with interactive time for the younger contestants. Age appropriate questions will be asked of contestants old enough to answer. Question topics are based on the bios that are submitted with the contestants entry. Outfits for interview will include the National Tee Shirt with contestants choice of skirts, pants, shorts, and choices of shoes or accessories. Sparkling Personality, Poise & Confidence are what our judges look for. Scores for each event are calculated from a possible 100 points per judge.
CLOTHING
Beauty competition dresses may be short or long dressy party attire. We suggest your choice of pageant glitz dress, flower girl, baby doll, or tea party style dresses for younger contestants, and ball gown or prom style dresses for pre teen, teen, or older contestants. Custom highly embellished pageant clothing is not necessary to win. Contestants should wear the style dress that best flatters them as a unique and beautiful individual, and the style of dress that is most comfortable and flattering for the contestant. The look you may want to consider is Baby Sweet for the Baby and Tiny Contestants, Precious Princess for Little Girls, Lovely and Elegant for Pre-Teen and Older Contestants. Babies generally need no makeup at all. Very light sheer and natural make up only to smooth skin tone or add a breath of cheek color is all that should be considered for a baby. For a contestant who chooses to wear Natural or Non Glitz dresses, this presentation would be best with very sheer makeup such as sheer lip gloss and/or sheer blush. Contestants who choose to compete in glitz may complete their total package glitz look, but with attention to a somewhat softer look. Make up should be flattering so as to enhance the appeal of the contestant’s overall beauty and look. Tanning should appear natural. Hair styles should look neat, pretty, soft and hair enhancements should be flattering with the age of the child. False eyelashes, very heavy makeup with very heavy eyeliner or dark multi layered eye shadow, and flippers are not recommended.
Casual wear may be off the off the rack or custom. Suggestions for casual wear is to follow the pageant theme, or select swimwear, western wear, or an outfit that matches the theme of your presentation. Small props for theme wear and talent competitions may be used but must be easily and quickly carried on and off of the stage. Contestants may not toss or throw anything off of the stage. Glitter, confetti or things that are tossed on the stage may be hazardous to contestants who compete next and therefore are discouraged. Casual wear, competition may include step routines, gestures, and facial expressions, but with a focus on modeling and showing off the casual outfit. Outfit of choice may include sportswear, western wear, theme wear and swimwear and routines are welcome. Special music can be used to enhance the presentation. Singing or any kind of dancing that involves gymnastics or acrobatics may not be performed in any casual wear competition, but may be entered separately in the talent or OOC competitions.
Contestants may not speak to the judges during the competition, except during up close appraisal, interview and/or introduction segment of the competition. Parents may not speak to the judges before or during the competition, however, may speak to the judges after crowning; and such conversations must be conduction in a positive and constructive manner. Judges decisions are final and therefore, the judges may not be challenged.
